• You will join the Network Defense team, responsible for designing, implementing, and orchestrating network security infrastructure, with a primary focus on detecting and mitigating DDoS attacks.
• You will participate in designing and maintaining the long-term operational capabilities of DDoS detection and mitigation infrastructure, as well as their efficiency.
• You will participate in designing and maintaining the long-term operational capabilities of network security infrastructure, such as abuse detection and associated response.
• You will contribute to protecting the infrastructure and services of a major player in the global cloud.

Your main responsibilities :

• Actively participate in threat intelligence and surveillance.

• Actively participate in the engineering process related to the design of network security infrastructure and services.

• Be a technical reference on network attacks (mainly DDoS): conduct technical analyzes, define countermeasures or best practices to avoid the recurrence of events, and advise teams for the implementation of defined solutions.

• Supervise operational response in certain exceptional circumstances.

• Integrate the technical committee in charge of responding to product management proposals regarding the qualification and prioritization of security features.

Your future impact

In 6 months you will

• Probably know more about DDoS than 6 months earlier.

• Have a good general understanding of network infrastructure at a global cloud provider

• Be comfortable with DDoS detection and mitigation infrastructures at OVHcloud.

• Have started contributing to technical surveillance and in-depth analyzes, the important conclusions of which are expected by management, engineering, and operation teams.

And in 1 year

• The DDoS detection and mitigation infrastructures at OVHcloud will (almost) be no secret to you.

• You will instinctively use an order of magnitude greater network bandwidth units.

• You will contribute to showcasing a niche and critical technical area, the expertise and know-how of which are recognized.

• You will have probably already produced an analysis that will be the source of change in your team or in other teams at OVHcloud.

• You will have been confronted with the state-of-the-art DDoS threats at least once.

Skills required :

• Mastery of general concepts related to computer networks (addressing, routing, load balancing, ...).
• Mastery of general concepts related to distributed and / or distributed infrastructures and systems (communication, resilience, ...).
• Proficient in at least one scripting language (eg bash / zsh, perl, python).
• Excellent understanding of network and associated application protocols on the Internet: IP, TCP / UDP / ICMP, BGP, TLS, DNS, etc.
• Good understanding of general observability and system reliability principles.

That's a plus :

• Professional experience demonstrated in the field (anti-DDoS) or related field.
• Professional experience demonstrated in /Site Reliability Engineering/ (SRE).
• Proficiency in at least one low-level programming language (eg C, C++, Rust).
• Mastery of system and / or network administration and security.
• Mastery of handling large volumes of data for analysis purposes
• Mastery of one or more machine learning technologies applied to large volumes of data.
• Mastery of data visualization.
