A sustainable commitment
A SUSTAINABLE COMMITMENT
Thanks to our vertically-integrated industrial model, our engineers have been committed to building a sustainable cloud for more than 20 years. We’re reusing industrial buildings, recycling components, extending the service life of hardware, optimising our energy consumption, and innovating to create an even more efficient cooling system with our unique water cooling technology. On top of our frugal design principles, we’re continuing to invest in R&D to reduce our environmental impact.
Grégory L., Global Environmental Director
COMMITMENTS AS TRANSPARENT AS OUR CLOUD
Since the founding of our company, we’ve been working to actively reduce our business’ impact on both society and the environment.
We’ve made commitments across several fields, such as recycling component waste and developing higher-performance systems that generate less carbon. We’re already contributing to Global NetZero across scopes 1 and 2, and we’re continuing to make progress across all scopes by 2030.
WE’RE DOING EVERYTHING WE CAN
to play a leading role in the evolution of the European technology sector's sustainability initiatives. As part of this, we’re adopting the Code of Conduct for datacentre energy efficiency across all of our European datacentres. We intend to align all of our datacentres with this initiative. OVHcloud is also a founding member of the Climate Neutral Data Centre Pact.
KEY ENVIRONMENTAL INDICATORS
We’re also using multiple key environmental indicators, including: Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE), which measurers a datacentre’s efficiency; Water Usage Effectiveness (WUE), which evaluates the quantity of water used to run a datacentre; and Carbon Usage Effectiveness (CUE), which takes into account a datacentre’s carbon intensity. Across all categories, we outperform industry standards.
THE OVHCloud CARBON CALCULATOR
OVHcloud has created a carbon calculator that delivers an estimate of greenhouse gas emissions. What makes it unique is that it is the first carbon calculator to offer a transparent and exhaustive approach. This tool allows OVHcloud’s customers to gain a clear understanding of their carbon footprint, with the results for their cloud use broken down across three emission items.
THE PRODUCTION PHASE
Upstream greenhouse gas emissions associated with the procurement and assembly of components.
THE USAGE PHASE
Emissions associated with electricity.
ANCILLARY EMISSIONS
Also known as "operations": other indirect emissions such as freight or the carbon impact associated with our supporting teams - for example, the heating and lighting in local offices.
YOU GET THE IDEA: WE HAVE NO INTENTION OF RESTING ON OUR LAURELS
If there's one area where we consistently seek to go above and beyond, it's sustainability. We constantly evolve our commitments to supporting environmental protection through ambitious and exciting projects, especially in Europe. We are looking forward to achieving our ambitious goal of 100% renewable energies by 2025 and 0% landfill, both of which are major milestones for us.
And we’re taking it even further: we’ve chosen to offer a range of refurbished, eco-friendly servers. We are also involved in the VMware Zero Carbon Committed initiative, which means reducing the carbon footprint of our datacentres, in particular by using renewable energies.

PERSONAL DATA PROCESSING
How is applicants’ personal data processed?
When you sign up to careers.ovhcloud.com and apply for a job with us, OVH S.A.S. will process your personal data. This personal data processing is required for the receipt and registration of applications, as well as for managing the recruitment process (namely the selection process, interviews and follow-up) relating to employees’ line management, responding to applications and, if applicable, handling any disputes.
The legal basis for this processing is Article 6(1)(b) of the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679: the processing is required for the execution of pre-contractual measures and for the establishment of the contractual relationship between the entities of OVH Group and applicants. In the event of recruitment by an OVH Group entity, the data will consequently be processed for the purposes of employee administrative management and career management.
Identification, career, and cover letter data, as well as data regarding the line management of the applicant, employee or the person who recruited the applicant are sent to Affiliate Companies (both inside and outside the EU), hosting data within the SAP Success Factor solution in the European Union (the Netherlands). Some of this data may be required and, if this is the case, you’ll be informed when it is collected, primarily in the form of an asterisk or an equivalent marking.
Your data is retained for the entire duration of the application process and, with your consent, it is retained for an intermediate period of 13 months from the last point of communication for the purposes of creating a CV bank. Following this, it is then archived until the legal limitation periods expire. However, in the event of hiring, this data is processed for the purpose of sending a formal job offer and retained throughout the contractual relationship between you and the OVH Group entities concerned.
To exercise your rights (access, rectification, erasure, opposition and limitation of processing, and portability) or if you have any questions about the processing of your data within this system, you can contact the Data Protection Officer at the address dpo@ovh.com, attaching proof of identity. You can also file a complaint with the CNIL (French Data Protection Authority).
