We are looking for a Head of Design & Build who is passionate about a vibrant mix of Datacenter infrastructure design, construction, project management and Network infrastructures. Reporting to the Chief Industrial Officer (CINO), you are the budget owner and responsible for a broad range of new Datacenter design and build projects as well as the organic growth of our existing Datacenters. All those projects being related to OVH 5-year strategic plan in terms of infrastructure roll-out worldwide.

Main mission of the Head of Design & build is to drive the 3 squads in charge of designing OVHcloud datacenter infrastructures, building and deploying Datacenter and Network facilities.

• Design OVHcloud Datacenter infrastructures
  • Strengthen the capacity for innovation and agility of the OVHcloud model
  • Define the inside and outside urbanization of the Datacenters
  • Issue the High Level Design of the systems (electrical/cooling/monitoring) leveraging the latest OVHcloud R&D innovation
  • Maintain a cost/environment driven technology watch to assess and ultimately introduce the latest innovations in the Datacenter industry
  • Put together the Technical Specifications of the systems prior to the Requests For Proposals sent out on the market
  • Analyze and validate the vendors/contractors submissions along with the Sourcing/Legal teams

• Deploy OVHcloud Datacenter infrastructures
  • Apply for the necessary administrative permits
  • Set up the long lead-time items sourcing and procurement strategy along with the Sourcing/Supply teams
  • Project manage the construction/installation works on site
  • Perform the Factory and Site Acceptance Tests of the miscellaneous gears to be installed
  • Perform the commissioning of the critical systems (electrical line-ups/cooling line-ups/monitoring)
  • Hand over to the Datacenter Operations teams upon completion

• Deploy OVHcloud Network infrastructures
  • Set up the long lead-time equipment sourcing and procurement strategy
  • Negotiate the telco/housing services contracts along with the Sourcing/Legal teams (dark fiber, transmission capacity, peerings/IP transits, PoP colocation services)
  • Define OVHcloud Peering strategy and implement it
  • Project manage the installation/cabling works on site
  • Hand over to the Network Operations teams upon completion

• Plan and manage OVHcloud infrastructure budget
  • Submit the yearly CAPEX/OPEX plan for arbitration
  • Manage the budget and the P&L of your perimeter
  • Seek for project related budget approvals in regular investment committees prior to execution
  • Follow up on the monthly budget consumption with the Finance controlling team
  • Reforecast the budget to align with the business needs and the year-end landing objectives

• Manage a team of 30 people including 3 Managers in direct reporting
  • Structure and develop skills and competencies across the business to support our growth at a worldwide level
  • Lead individual and collective performance across your perimeter
  • Lead all HR processes in your perimeter: objectives settings, annual appraisals, people review and development, salary reviews, training path

Your Skillsets:

• Strong experience along with credibility & seniority in Design/Build activities including management experience
• Solid knowledge of Building facilities (Design, Build & Run), renovation of existing industrial buildings, telecom-type network projects.
• Ability and experience to lead strategic projects with diverse cultures and teams
• Customer oriented
• The capacity to innovate, to seek the best compromise and to promote it, searching for simplicity, frugality, common sense; also the technical skills to challenge the solutions proposed, in particular by subcontractors
• Highly organized, thoughtful, and proactive in driving projects forward independently
• Excellent communication, rigor, agility, adaptability, creativity, and team spirit  
• Trusted team player with the ability to foster strong relationships across multiple levels and functions within a global organization

 Profile:

• Background in Engineering or architecture in construction and/or building sectors
• +15 years of work experience in the construction/design office/or engineering sector
• Strong expertise in feasibility study/ FEED expertise
• Entrepreneurship, solution-orientated, and innovative
• Fluency in French and English
• International experience(s) ideally in Asia Pacific and/or North America
• Based in North of France or willing to relocate 3 days/week and be present physically on site (Near Lille)
