DC IT Technician - Berlin (m/f/x)

 

Within your #OneTeam

As a member of the DC Operations team, reporting to the Datacenter Manager in Berlin, the DC Technician will play a key role in the opening and operational launch of our new data centers in Berlin. In this position, the technician ensures the proper functioning of the data center infrastructure by overseeing equipment installation and maintenance, guaranteeing continuity of service.

 

Given the dynamic environment of sites opening, proactivity, strong teamwork, enthusiasm, and flexibility are essential to successfully support this strategic project. The role may require participation in an on-call rotation.

 

Your main responsibilities:

Participation to the Installation of services

  • Install racks as required and set up power, cooling and network wire connections
  • Install, and set up the infrastructure equipment: cooling
  • Install the probes and alerts needed to manage Infrastructures equipment’s
  • Connect power and network cables within server and network rack
  • Install / Uninstall servers as required by the DC Manager and in accordance with the operational plan
  • Assemble and install computer hardware (assemble / install / upgrade/ update servers)


Contribute to datacenter systems architecture and ensure 1st level of support

  • Inspect IT and Infrastructure alarms and DC monitoring systems and quickly schedule repairs when needed
  • Ensure servers are functioning properly via analysis and monitoring
  • Complete interventions on the equipment in response to monitoring alerts or customer tickets
  • Manage and resolve system failures; undertake curative maintenance on delivered servers;troubleshoot technical issues using various tools: network, servers; replace failed networking devices within racks
  • Respond quickly in the event of an emergency, notify appropriate personnel, and follow safety protocol
  • Coordinate activity with all 24/7 teams and help improve customer relations
  • Ensure information is shared between maintenance agents and provide reports to the DC Manager
  • Respect the schedule and targets set by the DC Manager
  • Relay reported anomalies to maintain service quality
  • Escalate incident tickets to Level 2 support where appropriate
  • Upgrade the servers (change obsolete components)
  • Assist team members with other relevant IT or infra maintenance tasks within the Datacenter
  • Follow the set-up and maintenance procedures for equipment
  • Make suggestions for possible improvements to equipment
  • For all these actions, use the right tools and keep asset’s databases up to date: stock, assets, status, actions, etc…


Contribute to datacenter maintenance

  • Assist and follows contractors or/and the provider in their maintenance building tasks
  • Support the setup of ventilation, refrigeration, cooling systems and conduct repairs when necessary
  • Make preventative and recurred diagnostics on the cooling’s equipment (pumps, ventilators, air coolers, change filters, programmed tests, cleaning, etc.)
  • Perform regular established maintenance procedures


Logistics all domain

  •  Manage the logistics of orders and dispatch

Skills required:

Technical skills

  • A keen interest in IT and computer hardware products/components
  • Advanced knowledge of general maintenance procedures, safety protocols, and operational techniques, with a strong awareness of applicable security and regulatory requirements
  • Basic knowledge of computer networking
  • Basic knowledge of datacenters’ infrastructure
  • Effective problem-solving abilities
  • Fluency in English
  • Knowledge in logistics and stock management


Soft skills

Experience required:

  • Post-secondary or equivalent qualification in electronics / IT / Maintenance
  • Strong electrical aptitude with the ability to safely operate, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical systems within a data center infrastructure environment
  • Authorization and qualification to operate and handle technical service vehicles in compliance with applicable safety regulations
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Experience of building and maintaining computers
  • Driving license mandatory
