LOOKING BACK AT THE OVHCLOUD X EPITA RENNES HACKATHON: THE SECDEVOPS GENERATION REINVENTS CYBERDEFENCE!
At OVHcloud, innovation and knowledge-sharing are part of our DNA. As part of our OVHcloud Education program, our teams spent three days at EPITA Rennes to lead an intensive hackathon with students from the SecDevOps major.
To power their ideas, we provided them with our Public Cloud infrastructure as well as AI credits and tokens. This comprehensive stack allowed them to design, test, and deploy their solutions under real-world conditions. The technical level of this edition was simply impressive!
🏆 AWARDS AND WINNERS OF THIS EDITION
🥇 Best Technical Project Award: MIR[AI]GE
An ultra-innovative concept rethinking cyberdefence against new threats. The team developed a proactive platform capable of detecting offensive AI agents and dynamically redirecting them to a decoy container (honeypot).
The clever part of the concept? Instead of simply blocking the attack, the system traps malicious AIs in logical dead ends and fake data to exhaust their computing budget. A brilliant idea to turn the tables!

🥈 Best Presentation Award: Honeymind
A great open-source approach designed to integrate natively into our ecosystem. The students engineered a internet-facing honeypot to analyse attackers' requests and provide threat intelligence that can be directly used by our incident response teams (SOC/CERT). The project even integrates an AI component to better deceive the attacker.

Special mention to the other projects from this class, which were also highly accomplished:
- Winnie: A bounce-honeypot system that misleads attackers into a maze of AI-generated files, modelled on the MITRE ATT&CK framework.
- SRE-squad: An assistance tool for SOC analysts, allowing them to correlate logs and runbooks to better prioritise and handle high-volume alerts, which are often saturated by automated AI attacks.
CONNECTING ACADEMIC STUDIES TO REAL-WORLD CHALLENGES
Beyond the competition, this partnership illustrates our commitment to supporting future tech talents as they step into demanding cloud environments. This hands-on format allows students to directly tackle the production and scalability constraints we face every day at OVHcloud.
